Andrew designed this renovation project in 2014. The structure was a very large, but otherwise unremarkable ranch house built in the 1950s. The idea was to remodel the house to look somewhat like a fine Arts & Crafts style structure that might date from the 1920s. We simplified the roof line, stuccoed over the brick, and added a timber-frame porch. On the interior, we removed the main bearing wall that divided the house in half, replacing it with a timber colonnade. We paneled the new interior in tongue-and-groove wood, and remodeled the huge fireplace. The oak floors were chemical treated to a gray color, and Andrew designed a custom mural that was painted in the dining room. The house was featured in this article in Charleston Home + Design.
