Saints Constantine and Elena, Indianapolis, IN
Saints Constantine and Elena Romanian Orthodox Church was built in 1948 with a simple Protestant-influenced design typical of Orthodox churches of the period. After years of effort with decorations and furnishings, it was clear to the parish that merely cosmetic enhancements could not make the space feel like a real Orthodox temple. Andrew proposed a more substantial intervention - columns and arches to transform the space into a three-aisle basilica, along with wood-paneled ceilings, chandeliers, and an open loft in the back. Andrew also specified cutting a round window into the west wall to admit a dramatic sunbeam at vespers.
Andrew detailed every inch of the new woodwork, which is designed in a style reminiscent of Romanian village churches. The chandeliers were also custom-made to his design.
Construction completed in 2026.
