The Paradise Pavilion

Andrew was asked to design this pavilion as the central installation for an art show at the City Gallery in Charleston, SC. The show, titled The City Luminous: Architectures of Hope in an Age of Fear, explored expressions of paradise and utopia in architectural history. The Paradise Pavilion is a sort of architectural image of the New Jerusalem - the heavenly city. It draws from many cultural influences and makes extensive use of CNC-fabrication in its manufacture - an intriguing marriage of medieval ornament with modern technology.
