Saint Gregory Palamas Monastery Chapel
This wooden chapel serves as the main church of an English-speaking Greek Orthodox Monastery located in the heart of Amish country. Andrew designed the exterior in the vernacular American language seen in the local farm buildings - lap siding, rafter tails, and timber-frame gable brackets. The interior, however, is purely Byzantine in style, fully plastered and prepared for iconographic murals. Wooden columns and other details express the wood structure behind the plaster, allowing the building to be an honest expression of Byzantine forms in wood. Designed in association with a local architect of record, and built in 2018. It is currently being frescoed by iconographer Vladimir Grygorenko.
