This project began when the client acquired a small 1959 ranch house in the desirable Old Village neighborhood of Mount Pleasant. We planned to expand and upgrade the house, and reverse-engineer its ranch styling to something more like Prairie Style. The project kept growing, and in the end, it became 95% new construction, with only a small core of the original structure hidden inside. Broadly inspired by the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, the completed structure is 3,300 SF, a mixture of solid masonry and wood frame construction. The interior is wood paneled with structural beamed ceilings throughout. Designed by Andrew Gould and Tom Podhrazsky, and completed in 2021. Photographs by Andrew Pielage.
